FDA welcomes the National Audit Office report on Ofsted
It also highlights the point that whilst the number of key targets have been missed, the quality of inspections has increased, which is a demonstration of the hard work of HM Inspectors (HMIs).
Jawad Raza, FDA National Officer for Ofsted, said: “We welcome Ofsted’s assurance that it is looking at a number of these issues, however, now is the time for action. Our members are working longer hours than ever to keep the quality of inspections at the level they are at and that is a testament to the commitment and dedication of HMIs, but goodwill can only last for so long. Ofsted also needs to address the recruitment and retention issues, including pay, which will help to attract new inspectors, increase staff numbers and help to reduce the workload of our members.”
