FDA in HM Revenue & Customs

FDA members working for HMRC belong to our ARC section

The FDA represent managers and professionals in HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) from grades HO and above. We fight to improve and protect the pay, pensions, working conditions of all our members.

Those on the graduate Tax Specialist Programme (TSP) get their first six months of membership for free, with reduced subscription rates during their time on the programme.

If you are an FDA member in HMRC with an issue or concern you would like to raise with your local reps, please drop us a line at arccasework@fda.org.uk.

The level of professionalism and specialist advice my union rep has given me would have cost thousands of pounds if I’d instructed a legal firm to represent me (and I doubt they would have been as good as my rep!) I cannot urge people strongly enough to support the FDA  and to make sure they have this amazing insurance policy.

My union rep has been what I can only describe as a real life-saver for me over a very challenging and prolonged period of time. They went far beyond supporting me through gruelling internal procedures, making sure my emotional welfare as well as professional welfare was taken care of too. There have been some really dark times, and without that all-encompassing support I would have felt completely isolated and vulnerable. I really don’t know how I would have managed.

FAQs

What is the difference between ARC and the fda?

The Association of Revenue and Customs (ARC) is a section of the FDA union, which represents members in HMRC. The FDA has a federal structure, with branches/centres representing particular workplaces, and sections representing particular professional groups. As a member of the FDA working in HMRC, you will also be a member of our ARC section and also your local ARC centre.

What is an arc centre?

ARC centres are the body responsible for the recruitment of members in their workplace and for representing their views to HQ. Every HMRC workplace is represented by an ARC centre. For example, a member who works at HMRC’s Nottingham hub will belong to ARC Nottingham centre. Each centre has a committee of elected members responsible for local business and providing practical support for members.

does arc have an annual conference?

ARC holds an Annual General Meeting in different locations across the UK. Members and centres are given the opportunity to put forward motions and to set ARC’s priorities and policies for the coming year.
