The FDA's appeal - together with GMB, Prospect, the National Union of Teachers (NUT) and the Civil Service Pensioners' Alliance (CSPA) - against the High Court ruling, which rejected the challenge to the Government's decision to change the uprating index for public sector pensions from RPI to CPI, is being heard in court today and tomorrow (Monday 20 and Tuesday 21 February 2012).
The appeal was launched in mid-January - for more information please click here (you will need to log into the FDA website to access this page). It is not yet clear how quickly a decision on the appeal will be announced.
Commenting on the unions' decision to appeal, FDA General Secretary Jonathan Baume said: "We have always said that we will use every avenue available to challenge this decision. The Court gave us leave to appeal on two areas and we will be appealing both. We will continue to challenge where it makes sense to do so and where there is a reasonable prospect of success."
